Chapter 3 documents

Roman history on the germans 1. Tacitus describes the Germanian government saying it was based off skilled based leadershipand the leaders would try to lead the people by example instead of just by authority. They also saw there women as higher in society, they were also very focused on there military and were very feared because of it. 2. I think one statement that is reliable is about the Germans choosing there own kings based by birth, and that they chose their generals by merit. 3. Tacticus saw the germans as very barbaric people, because of how they trained there men from a young age and were always fighting.  I think that if he saw that the german played a major role in defeating the Roman Empire because they were such great fighters. 4. I think that Tacticus praised the Germans a little bit because he liked that they were "pure bloods" and not mixed with anything like how the Romans were. I think he also liked how cl...

Part two and chapter 3

During the second wave of civilizations we see the civilizations that had states and empires grow in size. This includes the Roman, Persian, Indian, and Chinese Empires. One thing these empires all have in common is the power that they hold during this time and that they eventually fall.  During the second wave there wasnt big technological breakthroughs like there was during the agricultural and industrial revolution during the first wave of civiliztion, but there was still growth in technology and understanding during this time.  women became even more limited becasue of the growth of patriarchy, so there was more restrictions on them.  During the Second wave we see the mergence of the Persian Empire in 500B.C. it became one of the largest empires. Chapter 2 blog documents

On page 94 you can see the picture of the statue that was found in India and created by the Indus valley people.  The features that i notice on the statue are that she looks like shes confident, powerful, and a respected individual.  What I can identify is that she is probably a wealth or an elite member of society. I think this becasue she is wearing jewelry and her hair is done nicely, and the way of how her clothing is worn could be a sign of wealth. What i got from the statue was that it shows that these people had an advanced ability to work with metal to make a statue like that. I also think that it als could be saying that women could have been highly respected in there society based off of that work of art.

Chapter 2 blog

With chapter two we start to go into ancient history/ the start of written history. The first civilizations start to come out which include Mesopotamia, Egypt, Babylonia, Norte Chico and a few others. With the emergence of civilizations we start to see how equality starts to go away compared to back in the neolithic times.  We see that because there starts to be a hierarchy on gender women start to be seen as subordinate to men in the family and socially. Which is what we call patriarchy,  women had there roles now in the home with the children and men were the ones who owned the land, became the rulers, and the scholars just based off their masculinity. The government or state is then created during this time we had powerful/ wealthy people coming into power and with that we had the invention of writing which helped with creating laws and a class system. With scribes coming into play we get the first written history and one of the first proof of laws in the ancient times. Egy...
