Part two and chapter 3

During the second wave of civilizations we see the civilizations that had states and empires grow in size. This includes the Roman, Persian, Indian, and Chinese Empires. One thing these empires all have in common is the power that they hold during this time and that they eventually fall.  During the second wave there wasnt big technological breakthroughs like there was during the agricultural and industrial revolution during the first wave of civiliztion, but there was still growth in technology and understanding during this time.  women became even more limited becasue of the growth of patriarchy, so there was more restrictions on them.  During the Second wave we see the mergence of the Persian Empire in 500B.C. it became one of the largest empires. They were a monarchy and were ruled by king but they also had governors, they were known for being conquerors but also very respected by there people. Then we see the meregence of the greeks and there small city states which was totally opposite from that of the Persians. they came about around 750 B.C. and the population of the greeks was about 2-3 million which was not evne close to that of the persians. All the city states within greece were independent and had there own beliefs. We also see the emergence of the Roman Empire which was a monarchy but was failing terribly so thwy switched to a republic it was dominated by wealthy men known as the particians and the poorer/ working class called plebians. what the Romans created was random and brand new, no one had ever created a city-state republic before. The romans also offered there women allowed women to have a less restricted life.  We also see the emergence of the Chinese empire, who went from warring states to an Empire around the same time as the Roman empire. They were known to base there rule on supernatural sanctions, or Gods, we also see the emeregence of Confucianism during this time.
